Java Backend Developer (Kafka)

We are seeking a Java Backend Developer (Kafka). You will build and run cloud-native services on Microsoft Azure, design resilient microservices and event-driven integrations with Kafka and optimize PostgreSQL data access. You will partner with product and engineering teams to ship reliable features from build to production.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Back-end services using Java, Kafka and microservices
• Develop RESTful application programming interfaces (APIs) that are secure and scalable
• Implement event streaming and messaging patterns using Apache Kafka
• Build, deploy and monitor cloud-native workloads on Microsoft Azure/ AWS
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries and performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features end to end
• Participate in code reviews, testing and release activities
• Troubleshoot production issues and maintain clear technical documentation

Requirements

• Java proficiency with hands-on experience building Back-end services
• Microservices experience including service design, observability and resilience patterns
• RESTful APIs experience across design, implementation and integration
• Microsoft Azure/ AWS experience deploying and operating cloud services
• Apache Kafka experience with producers, consumers and event-driven design
• PostgreSQL experience with schema design, indexing and query tuning
• Problem-solving ability to debug issues across services and environments
• Clear communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams

Nice to have

• Experience with containerization and orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes (K8s)
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
• Experience with automated testing practices for Back-end services
