We are building a Lead JavaScript Full Stack Engineer role to guide a five-product pod centered on an explorer platform spanning 10 repos and event-driven services. You will steer sprint delivery, raise event stream reliability across Confluent Kafka consumers, and run the field notes sunset migration while shipping features on explorer and live.

Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction across five products that share a TypeScript/Node.js stack
  • Drive event stream reliability improvements on the explorer platform, including dead-letter queue implementation, retry patterns, and consumer failure handling
  • Resolve the authentication stability fix impacting the explorer platform's DynamoDB-backed auth layer
  • Perform code reviews and maintain engineering standards across the pod
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery risk management for the Exploration Pod
  • Run the field notes platform sunset migration while continuing active feature delivery on other products
  • Monitor and communicate pod-level delivery health to the Engagement Lead
  • Mentor pod engineers and help grow their skills, especially in event-driven patterns and PostgreSQL data modeling
  • Partner with the Business Analyst to confirm stories are well-defined before sprint planning
  • Contribute to cross-pod architecture discussions with the Solution Architect
  • Coach engineers on effective AI-assisted development, particularly for complex event-driven debugging and data consistency problem-solving
  • Use AI-assisted incident diagnosis to analyze logs, trace consumer failures, and propose remediation steps

Requirements

  • Proven track record with 5+ years of experience as a full stack engineer and strong event-driven systems experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team through high complexity without losing delivery momentum
  • Hands-on proficiency in TypeScript, Next.js, and NestJS
  • Deep understanding of Confluent Kafka, including KafkaJS and Avro
  • Solid background with PostgreSQL and TypeORM
  • Working familiarity with Redis (ElastiCache)
  • Practical knowledge of AWS ECS/Lambda and GitLab CI
  • Experience leading a team that uses AI coding assistants as part of the standard development workflow
  • Clear understanding of identity management concepts and constructs, ideally with Auth0 or equivalent identity management platforms
  • English proficiency at B2 level (Upper-Intermediate) or higher
