Senior Full-Stack Java Developer

Join EPAM's engineering team as a Senior Full-Stack Java Developer and take ownership of maintaining and modernizing a portfolio of enterprise-grade Gateway applications. You'll work in a dynamic environment built around Java Spring Boot microservices and a diverse set of Angular front-end applications — from legacy Angular 8 to modern Angular 18 implementations.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on improving application security, code quality, and long-term maintainability while collaborating closely with the Principal Engineer. You'll have direct impact on the platform's health, engineering culture, and the technical growth of the team.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the maintenance and modernization of enterprise Gateway applications across backend and frontend
• Drive remediation of security vulnerabilities identified by tools such as Veracode, CAST, and SonarQube
• Support dependency upgrades, framework modernization, refactoring, and technical debt reduction
• Design and implement secure, maintainable solutions using Java Spring Boot and Angular
• Contribute to Angular modernization efforts across legacy (Angular 8) and current (Angular 18) codebases
• Participate in architecture and code reviews while adhering to and promoting engineering best practices
• Collaborate with architects, security teams, QA, and product stakeholders to prioritize remediation activities
• Support long-term platform health through continuous security and maintainability improvements

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Expert-level knowledge of Java and Spring Boot
• Strong experience with enterprise REST APIs and backend application architecture
• Hands-on experience with Angular applications, including version upgrades and modernization (Angular 8+ preferred)
• Strong command of TypeScript, RxJS, and modern frontend development practices
• Proven experience in application modernization, dependency management, and technical debt reduction
• Experience remediating security vulnerabilities using tools such as Veracode, CAST, SonarQube, or equivalents
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced enterprise environment

Nice to have

• Experience with Apigee API gateway platform
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Background in microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
