Engineering Manager

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join Lendo Sweden Product & Tech. In this role you will manage two agile teams and work alongside two Engineering Manager peers in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.

About the Role

As an Engineering Manager, you lead two cross-functional agile teams and serve as line manager for the team members. You stay close to the daily operations without being hands-on with code. You understand technical context, keep track of sprint progress and step in to help your teams navigate blockers, balance priorities and refine their delivery flow.

You combine empathetic leadership with clear performance guidance. Whether it is coaching engineers to adopt modern tech, supporting individuals through structured growth or actively addressing performance gaps, you ensure every team member thrives.

Key Responsibilities

People, Growth & Culture

• Build, recruit and onboard high-performing teams aligned with business needs

• Provide direction, coaching and regular feedback through continuous 1:1s, development talks and career progression planning

• Cultivate a safe, inclusive team culture with high psychological safety where innovation and well-being go hand in hand

• Manage career levels, seniority adjustments and compensation reviews in line with company frameworks

• Support individuals through empathetic performance management, helping everyone reach their full potential

• Responsible for ensuring change management takes place within your teams, given that we live and operate in a changing world

Operational Leadership & Technical Context

• Maintain strong operational oversight of your teams, keeping track of sprint status, deadlines and delivery commitments

• Challenge engineers to explore modern tools, leverage technologies like AI/ML and look beyond their immediate scope to collaborate across departments

• Translate complex business objectives into tech priorities, providing transparency around the "why" behind decisions

• Act as an operational bridge between teams, stakeholders and departments to resolve friction and keep work moving seamlessly

• Facilitate agile ceremonies and workshops when needed, continuously improving ways of working

Delivery, Risk & System Health

• Partner closely with Product Owners to define team goals, align KPIs and secure steady delivery

• Oversee the post-incident lifecycle, follow-ups, vulnerability management and compliance alignment

• Ensure monitoring, alerting and sustainable on-call rotations are built natively into the development lifecycle

• Collaborate with fellow Engineering Managers to share knowledge, align practices and drive overall engineering efficiency

• Represent Tech in local Sweden leadership forums and coordinate office hub arrangements when needed

Who You Are

• Experienced Leader: You have at least 4 years of direct people management experience in tech organisations, with a track record of building and growing software engineering teams.

• Solid Tech Background: You bring at least 10 years of total experience within the tech industry. You do not need to write code daily, but you comfortably understand technical architecture, development processes and sprint dynamics.

• Operational & Present: You stay close to your teams' daily reality, understand sprint flows and know how to support both high performers and individuals needing guidance.

• Empathetic & Direct: You create psychological safety while maintaining clear expectations, open feedback loops and strong accountability.

• Bridge Builder: You communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, translating business goals into meaningful context for your engineers.
