Software Engineer III, Google Cloud Storage, Infrastructure

We are Google Cloud Storage (GCS), the object store for Google’s cloud, and this is a planet-scale distributed storage system that manages exabytes of user data, trillions of objects, terrabits of traffic, and millions of queries per second (qps). In this role, you will serve some of the world’s largest consumer and enterprise companies, startups in many industries, and Google’s own services like Drive, Gmail, Photos and YouTube.

As a part of this team, your work will directly impact the storage capacity for Google's Product Area and its customers. US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development using C++.
• 2 years of experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or storage architecture.
• Experience developing solutions on Cloud Computing platforms or building Software as a Service (SaaS) products.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  
• Experience building or modeling large-scale distributed storage systems or I/O intensive applications.
• Experience delivering deep performance, scalability, or reliability improvements in distributed environments.
