Position: Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Java) to join TRG Screen’s engineering team. You will design, develop, and evolve backend services and frontend applications across our enterprise product suite — a hands-on role that blends new feature development with improving and modernising complex, established codebases. TRG Screen is an AI-driven engineering organisation; this role is expected to use AI tooling by default across the full development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Development & Delivery

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and frontend applications, including modernisation of complex, established codebases.
  • Participate in the full SDLC — requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-release support.
  • Operate independently on complex tasks, owning features end-to-end from design through to deployment.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to clean code principles.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues, including performance and scalability challenges.
  • Use AI tooling as standard practice across design, implementation, code review, and testing to improve quality and delivery speed.

Technical Leadership

  • Contribute to architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
  • Apply clean code principles and design patterns to deliver maintainable, scalable systems.
  • Champion automated testing practices and contribute to system reliability, performance, and security.
  • Actively adopt AI-driven development practices and contribute to their adoption within the team.
  • Produce technical documentation including design specifications and runbooks.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Collaborate effectively with product managers, QA, UX designers, and other stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to team knowledge through pairing and documentation.
  • Communicate clearly on technical topics with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and continuous process improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong Java experience (5+ years) in enterprise or large-scale backend systems
  • Experience working with complex, established codebases.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience in modern front-end frameworks (Angular, React, or similar).
  • Knowledge of relational databases and ORM frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of clean code principles, design patterns, and testing practices.
  • Familiarity with Git, Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Preferred

  • Exposure to microservices architecture and API design.
  • Experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience using AI-driven development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to enhance productivity and code quality.
  • Familiarity with spec-driven development — using structured specifications to guide AI coding agents and validate generated output (e.g., BMAD, GitHub Spec-Kit).
  • Familiarity with financial services or research technology domains.
