Senior UI Engineer — Unreal Engine 5

We are looking for a Senior UI Engineer to implement and maintain player-facing UI systems in Unreal Engine for a cross-platform, live product. The role focuses on building reliable, scalable UI at runtime, integrating UI with gameplay/client systems and online data, and ensuring strong performance and usability across input methods.

Responsibilities

• Implement UI screens, flows, and reusable components in Unreal Engine (menus, overlays/HUD, modal flows, lists/grids, etc)
• Own UI behavior end-to-end: navigation, focus management, input handling (controller/keyboard-mouse), state transitions, and error handling
• Integrate UI with asynchronous data sources (client services/APIs, player data, inventory-like data, remote configuration), including caching and resilient loading states
• Partner closely with UI design and UI art to translate specs into shippable, maintainable implementations
• Debug and optimize UI performance and stability (frame time, hitching, memory, draw cost)
• Help establish best practices and patterns for UI development

Requirements

• 5+ years of proven experience shipping UI in Unreal Engine using UMG (Widget Blueprints) and Blueprints
• Strong understanding of UI architecture: separation of concerns, reusable components, state management, and event-driven/asynchronous flows
• Experience building cross-platform UI navigation (focus-driven UI, back behavior, input routing, accessibility/readability considerations)
• Ability to profile and troubleshoot performance issues using Unreal tooling (e.g., Unreal Insights and relevant in-engine debugging tools)
• Familiarity with professional team workflows: code reviews, ticket-based delivery, and version control (Perforce strongly preferred, Git acceptable depending on project)
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Nice to have

• Skills in C++ in Unreal Engine (extending UI frameworks, building base classes, performance-critical improvements)
• Familiarity with Unreal UI frameworks such as CommonUI/CommonInput and/or Slate
• Experience on a live-service product (rapid iteration, hotfix mindset, telemetry/analytics awareness, feature flags/remote config patterns)
• Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines (design, UI art, backend/services)
