Senior Data Integration Engineer/ DWH, MS SQL, T-SQL

We are looking for a Senior Data Integration Engineer to join a team that develops and supports an enterprise data warehouse for a global insurance business. In this role, you will design and maintain the data warehouse and data marts, build ETL pipelines, and deliver data extracts and analytical reports that business users and downstream systems rely on every day.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support the enterprise data warehouse and subject-oriented data marts
• Build, schedule, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that load data from operational source systems
• Develop data extracts for internal consumers and external systems according to business and technical specifications
• Create and enhance analytical reports and the datasets behind them
• Analyze and tune query and pipeline performance: indexing, execution plans, partitioning, load optimization
• Gather and clarify requirements with business users and analysts; translate them into data models and technical solutions
• Investigate and resolve data quality issues, perform data reconciliation between sources and the warehouse
• Provide production support: monitor loads, troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis
• Maintain up-to-date technical documentation: data mappings, data flow descriptions, extract specifications
• Participate in code reviews and follow version control and release procedures
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to architectural decisions

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on data warehouse/ETL development experience
• Proficiency in MS SQL Server, including database engine, database objects, and administration basics relevant for a developer
• Expertise in T-SQL at advanced level: complex queries, window functions, CTEs, stored procedures, functions, dynamic SQL, and error handling
• Skills in SSIS: design, development, deployment, and troubleshooting of packages, including configuration, logging, and scheduling
• Competency in performance optimization: reading execution plans, index strategy, statistics, query refactoring, optimization of large data loads
• Knowledge of data warehouse concepts: dimensional modelling (Kimball), star and snowflake schemas, facts and dimensions, staging/ODS/DWH/data mart layers, incremental loads
• Understanding of Slowly Changing Dimensions and practical implementation of all SCD types
• Capability to read and write technical specifications and source-to-target mappings
• Familiarity with Git or a similar version control system
• Analytical mindset, attention to detail, ability to work independently with requirements, and clear communication with both technical colleagues and business stakeholders
• Willingness to learn new technologies, including cloud data platforms
• English at Upper-Intermediate (B2) level or higher, both written and spoken, for communication with an international team and business users

Nice to have

• Background in Informatica PowerCenter
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake)
• Knowledge of SSAS OLAP (Multidimensional) cubes, SSAS Tabular models, MDX/DAX
• Skills in Power BI or other BI/reporting tools
• Experience in the insurance domain (policy, claims, billing, premium and loss data), including Guidewire products (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter) and their data models
• Proficiency in Python or PySpark for data processing, and CI/CD for database and ETL projects
