Avalanche Studios Group is looking for a Backend Programmer to join our Tech Foundation team as an embedded engineer dedicated to theHunter: Call of the Wild.
Working within the Apex Connect team alongside cloud engineers, DevOps, and backend developers, you will lead the integration between Apex Connect and theHunter: Call of the Wild. In this role, your primary focus will be developing and maintaining high-performance, player-facing backend services that support millions of active players across our self-published title.

What you'll do

You will be challenged with designing and building the next generation of our backend services. Balancing hands-on programming with technical strategy, you will work alongside senior developers to shape long-term architectural roadmaps, take ownership of core backend domains, and foster collaboration across teams and key stakeholders.
Our services are primarily implemented in Go, with parts extending into C++, Python, and JavaScript.
We are seeking someone with strong experience building scalable backend infrastructure and maintaining robust, reliable codebases. Prior games industry experience is a bonus, but not required.

Who you are

  • Minimum 5+ years of professional backend programming experience
  • Strong knowledge of backend programming in Go, Python, C#
  • Extensive experience from storage technologies such as MySQL, NoSQL, Redis or Memcache
  • Extensive experience running services in commercial clouds or Kubernetes
  • A great sense of technical excellence, functionality and problem-solving
  • Excellent verbal and written English

    Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience from the Video Game industry
  • Knowledge of Javascript and C++
  • Previous work with high availability solutions
  • Passionate about gaming

    The Stockholm location
    Our Stockholm office is situated in Södermalm, the beating heart of the city’s game industry. It’s a physical representation of our games – the lush vegetation of Just Cause and theHunter: Call of the Wild meets corroded metal straight out of Mad Max. Our hybrid model requires you to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to foster collaboration and creativity.
