Senior Software Engineer, ISP and ML, Image Quality Tuning System

In this role, you will design excellent Image Signal Processing (ISP) software frameworks and infrastructure to streamline the end-to-end ISP Image Quality/Video Quality (IQ/VQ) tuning pipeline, ensuring Android cameras are high-performing and intuitive across versatile products. You will be involved in the ISP tuning workflow design, automatic systems development, and IQ/VQ evaluation metrics/model development and integration. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

• Architect scalable software frameworks and infrastructure to streamline the end-to-end ISP IQ/VQ tuning pipeline.
• Automate data-heavy workflows, including database management and calibration, to significantly reduce manual effort.
• Integrate camera image quality algorithms directly into production software stacks, ensuring high-performance execution.
• Work with the Architecture, Software, Image Quality, and Tuning teams to develop solutions to achieve quality targets and commercialize real products.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in C++ programming language, and with data structures and algorithms.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience with performance, systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
• Experience with Machine Learning or AI work.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience in ML model development, image processing, computer vision, or computational photography development (e.g., image signal processing, algorithm design, or image quality evaluation).
