Deployment Safety Engineering Manager II, Technology Deployment (TD)

The AR Technology Deployment (TD) Strategy and Operations (S&O) team is looking for an experienced Safety Engineer to be responsible for the deployment of new technologies and products in a safe, ergonomic and efficient manner in new construction as well as live sites.

This individual will partner with WHS, General Contractors, and Deployment Engineers to support day-to-day monitoring of Tech Deployment Safety Programs and initiatives. The candidate will assist in conducting incident investigation, reviewing safety compliance, and drive proactive identification of potential safety hazards for TD, our partners, and impacted teams across deployment sites. The individual will take the lead in promoting safety awareness and education across deployment sites and labs and be hands-on with the product and deployment teams we support.

We are looking for someone that is passionate about Safety, can identify risks and opportunities, deep dive incident metrics, and owns driving improvements while engaging Hardware, Deployment engineers, Operations teams and other stakeholders..

Key job responsibilities
• Lead TD Safety Management System (SMS) program implementation and transform safety culture through leadership and innovative solutions across deployment sites.
• Drive deployment safety continuous improvement initiatives that set new benchmarks in deployment sites.
• Leverage technology and data analytics to drive preventive safety measures that protect our deployment engineers and contractors while enhancing operational excellence.
• Develop leadership safety plans, communicate expectations, and drive initiatives to create a safe work environment across deployment sites.
• Measure performance against TD safety policies, analyze metrics, and conduct site DSSI audits to address non-compliance issues.
• Build partnerships with Deployment engineers to integrate safety into every aspect of deployment processes.
• Use compelling data analysis and risk insights to influence positive change and drive strategic decision-making.
• Oversee incident record-keeping, deployment area organization, and drive safety training program compliance.
• Partner with Deployment engineers, contractors, WHS and other affected teams to report and investigate incidents and/or near misses and ensure timely/accurate documentation.
• Support TD Contractor management, pre-qualification and the execution of the Safe System of Work (SSOW) developed to perform Contractor work in deployment sites

A day in the life
As a Safety Engineer, you will take a lead role in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating TD Safety programs to ensure compliance with Amazon WHS and industry safety standards in order to provide a safe and secure workplace for employees and partners. You will be responsible for maintaining safety documentation, reporting and investigation of incidents, as well as leading and/or participating on safety committees, programs and initiatives. You will work across Amazon team to develop safety standard work in conjunction with our engineers, designers, and associates. In the event of issues or escalations you will investigate and report on situations and ensure proper actions are captured and closed out. You will pull teams together as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to conduct Root Cause Analyses in conjunction with Operations leadership and our deployment teams. In support of our field activities, you will perform site physical condition safety observations, safety behavior observations, as well as audits and inspections in relation to fire and safety related equipment.
