Solutions Architect

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented Solutions Architect with strong AWS and cloud architecture experience to help design and guide a modern cloud platform over a 12-month engagement, with a focus on Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) and the integration of AI/ML workloads.

In this role, you'll work closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to design scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS architectures across compute, networking, storage, and security. You'll help establish architecture standards, guide the implementation of EKS-based platforms, and support the integration of managed AI/ML services into existing cloud environments.

This is not a research or data science role. The focus is on architecting and integrating the cloud infrastructure needed to support AI/ML workloads rather than developing machine learning models.

WHO YOU ARE

You are an experienced Solutions Architect or Senior Cloud Engineer who enjoys designing modern cloud platforms and solving complex technical challenges.

You have strong hands-on experience with AWS and are comfortable designing solutions across networking, compute, storage, security, and cloud infrastructure.

You're experienced with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS, and understand how containerized workloads are deployed, secured, monitored, and scaled in production environments.

You're comfortable discussing architecture decisions with both technical teams and business stakeholders, translating requirements into practical and scalable solutions.

You have an interest in AI/ML technologies and understand how cloud platforms can support AI/ML workloads, without necessarily being a data scientist or machine learning engineer.

You're adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable taking ownership of architecture decisions in a consulting and client-facing environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design and document target AWS architectures across compute, networking, storage, security, and related cloud services.

• Support the design and rollout of Amazon EKS clusters, including decisions around multi-tenant or workload-specific architectures.

• Define architecture standards for security, scalability, reliability, and cost management across AWS environments.

• Design and guide CI/CD pipelines for deploying containerized workloads to EKS.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to establish scalable and maintainable cloud architecture patterns.

• Advise on the architecture required to deploy AI/ML inference workloads on EKS, Amazon SageMaker, or other appropriate AWS services.

• Evaluate and integrate managed AI services, such as Amazon Bedrock or SageMaker, into existing application architectures when appropriate.

• Ensure AI/ML workloads follow established security, networking, scalability, and cost-management standards.

• Review technical designs and provide architectural guidance throughout implementation.

• Create architecture diagrams, technical documentation, standards, and decision records.

• Lead technical discussions with engineers, stakeholders, and clients to evaluate architecture options and trade-offs.

• Identify opportunities to improve cloud reliability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.

• Support teams in troubleshooting and resolving complex architectural and infrastructure challenges.

WHAT YOU BRING

✅ 5+ years of professional experience as a Solutions Architect, Cloud Architect, Senior Cloud Engineer, or similar role.

✅ Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions on AWS.

✅ Production experience with Amazon EKS or strong hands-on Kubernetes experience with the ability to quickly specialize in EKS.

✅ Strong knowledge of core AWS services, including VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudFormation or Terraform.

✅ Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kubernetes manifests, and Helm.

✅ Experience designing CI/CD pipelines for containerized workloads.

✅ Working familiarity with at least one AWS AI/ML service, such as Amazon Bedrock or Amazon SageMaker.

✅ Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, scalability, and cost management principles.

✅ Strong architecture documentation, diagramming, and technical communication skills.

✅ Experience leading technical discussions and collaborating with engineers, clients, and other stakeholders.

✅ Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

NICE TO HAVE

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification.

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or CKAD certification.

• AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty or equivalent hands-on experience with AI/ML cloud architectures.

• Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or AWS App Mesh.

• Experience with advanced EKS networking.

• Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.

• Experience designing or advising on MLOps pipelines.

• Previous experience working in a consulting or contract-based architecture engagement.

• Experience working directly with clients and leading architecture initiatives.
