Software Engineer, Network Security

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. The Google Global Infrastructure (GGI) team is motivated by a mission to enable the world’s imagination with dependable, universal connectivity. We are responsible for the full lifecycle of a massive, web-scale network that reaches from core data centers to edge locations, providing the foundation for services like Gemini, Gmail, Search, and YouTube, while also supporting Cloud Networking for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) customers and Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI) initiatives.

• Write product or system development code.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 1 year of experience with full stack development, across the back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
• Experience in back-end coding languages such as GOLang, Rust, or Java.
• Experience in ML model coding languages (e.g., Python).
