Staff Lead Automotive E-commerce Platform Engineer
✨ AI Summary
iQansoft is hiring a Staff Lead Automotive E-commerce Platform Engineer to architect and develop a large-scale platform supporting 2.5M+ products across five websites. The role requires hands-on expertise in TypeScript, React, Next.js, PostgreSQL, and search technologies like Elasticsearch or Algolia, with mandatory experience in automotive data (ACES/PIES) and high-traffic e-commerce systems. This is a remote position offering significant technical ownership, mentorship opportunities, and exposure to complex distributed systems and SEO challenges.
- Architect, develop, and operate five high-traffic e-commerce websites using TypeScript and Next.js.
- Design and optimize SSR, caching, routing, revalidation, canonicalization, redirects, sitemaps, and structured data for large-scale SEO.
- Design and improve supplier data ingestion through FTP/SFTP, APIs, batch feeds, and near-real-time integrations.
- Build reliable data pipelines with validation, idempotency, lineage, replay, reconciliation, and rollback capabilities.
- Model and normalize ACES/PIES, vehicle fitment, year-make-model data, brands, part numbers, attributes, pricing, inventory, images, and supersessions.
- Design and maintain PostgreSQL data models and search indexing using Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, and/or Algolia.
- Improve search relevance, faceting, synonyms, vehicle filtering, index freshness, and zero-downtime reindexing.
- Integrate automotive data APIs and supplier systems with appropriate rate limiting, retries, pagination, schema versioning, and contract testing.
- Own technical aspects of checkout, payments, orders, pricing, and inventory systems, ensuring reliability, security, and auditability.
- Develop and maintain Sanity CMS schemas and publishing workflows, while keeping editorial and transactional data properly separated.
- Establish and improve automated testing, CI/CD, observability, SLOs, incident response, and production support practices.
- Lead architecture reviews and technical decisions while documenting trade-offs and technical direction.
- Mentor engineers, improve coding standards, manage technical debt, and contribute to hiring and team development.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Documented experience owning a production catalog, search index, or data platform with at least 1 million products or similarly complex records.
- Hands-on ACES/PIES, automotive fitment, or equivalent compatibility-domain experience involving complex many-to-many relationships.
- Deep production experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js SSR and hybrid rendering, backend services, and API integrations.
- Strong data-engineering skills across PostgreSQL, ETL/ELT, schema design, normalization, data quality, reconciliation, and large incremental updates.
- Production search experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch and/or Algolia, including index design, relevance, facets, aliases, and no-downtime reindexing.
- Experience operating high-traffic e-commerce systems covering discovery, pricing, inventory, checkout, payments, and orders.
- AWS, Vercel, Docker, CI/CD, observability, security, and incident-response experience.
- Staff-level technical leadership: architecture ownership, mentoring, cross-team influence, written decisions, and delivery through ambiguity.
- Clear spoken and written English and dependable overlap with defined North American business hours.
- Sanity CMS modeling and publishing workflows.
- Multi-brand or multi-tenant commerce platforms.
- Core Web Vitals and large-scale technical SEO migrations.
- Payments, PCI boundaries, fraud controls, tax, and shipping integrations.
- Change-data capture, queues, workflow orchestration, and data lineage tooling.
- Remote work opportunity.
- Opportunity to work on a large-scale automotive e-commerce platform serving 2.5M+ products across multiple websites.
- Significant ownership and influence over architecture, engineering practices, and long-term technical roadmap.
- Opportunity to work with modern technologies including TypeScript, React, Next.js, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch/Algolia, AWS, Vercel, Docker, and Sanity.
- Staff/Lead-level technical ownership with direct involvement in architecture and platform modernization.
- Opportunity to mentor engineers and contribute to team growth and hiring.
- Exposure to complex e-commerce, automotive data, search, SEO, data engineering, and distributed systems challenges.
- Collaborative environment with interaction across engineering, product, SEO, merchandising, and business teams.
