About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a motivated early-career engineer to join a team supporting and modernizing a business-critical SWIFT platform and its underlying infrastructure.
The ideal candidate does not need to be a SWIFT expert. Our client is looking for someone with solid technical fundamentals, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and an eagerness to learn technologies including AWS, CI/CD, GitHub, Infrastructure as Code, automation, and AI-assisted engineering tools.
This individual will work closely with CloudOps, IAM, Cybersecurity, Networking, and application teams while gaining hands-on experience with production systems, cloud infrastructure, deployments, monitoring, incident response, security, and operational automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation and reliability of the SWIFT platform and related infrastructure
- Monitor applications and infrastructure, investigate alerts, and assist with incident troubleshooting and resolution
- Perform server health checks, log reviews, system monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Assist with application deployments, upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and change-management activities
- Learn and support AWS cloud services used within the SWIFT environment
- Contribute to automation and process-improvement initiatives designed to reduce manual operational work
- Participate in CI/CD, GitHub workflows, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code initiatives
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with CloudOps, IAM, Cybersecurity, Networking, and application teams
- Support security, audit, compliance, and vulnerability remediation activities
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and other team deliverables
- Participate in an on-call/support rotation as technical knowledge and experience develops
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve troubleshooting, documentation, coding, and automation
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Approximately 0-3 years of engineering experience, including internships, academic projects, labs, or personal projects
- Strong foundational knowledge of Linux/Unix environments
- Understanding of cloud computing concepts, preferably AWS
- Basic scripting or programming experience with Python, Bash, or another programming language
- Understanding of fundamental networking and infrastructure concepts
- Exposure to Git/GitHub or another source-control platform
- Basic understanding of DevOps and CI/CD concepts
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability and willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and work in a production support environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Hands-on AWS experience, particularly EC2, VPC, Security Groups, and IAM
- Exposure to GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar CI/CD technologies
- Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
- Linux administration experience
- Exposure to DevOps, automation, monitoring, or infrastructure management
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or Claude
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity, vulnerability management, secure coding, and access controls
- Exposure to SWIFT technologies such as AWP, SAA, SAG/SNL, or HSM
- Financial services, banking, payments, or other highly regulated technology experience
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum practices
Think strong technical fundamentals + high learning agility, rather than a finished SWIFT or DevOps engineer.
The strongest candidates will likely have:
- Linux experience
- Some AWS/cloud exposure
- Python or Bash scripting
- Git/GitHub
- Basic CI/CD knowledge
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Interest in automation
- Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tools
- A willingness to work in a production/operational environment
- Strong communication skills and a desire to learn
