Job Description
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Design mechanical mounts, brackets, and enclosures in CAD for LiDARs, thermal cameras, telemetry sensors, and edge compute accounting for sensor field-of-view, alignment, cable routing, thermal management, serviceability, and field/environmental conditions.
Prototype, iterate, and produce those parts via 3D printing (and, where appropriate, spec them for CNC or other production methods for the 20-unit fleet).
Manage the mechanical, electrical, and network-layer integration of multi-component systems into single-board edge computers (NVIDIA Jetson AGX Thor/Orin).
Integrate sensors end-to-end: mechanically mount them, wire them electrically through the right adapters, and verify their raw data outputs, formats, and frame rates.
Configure and program embedded microcontrollers (ESP32, STM32) to ensure seamless hardware-layer execution and control.
Select, test, and deploy appropriate hardware adapters, signal converters, and power interfaces (e.g., PoE, serial converters) to link diverse hardware blocks.
Establish and configure low-latency data and video streaming links from cameras to onboard systems, defining and verifying exact data outputs, formats, and frame rates.
Configure and maintain onboard local networking architecture (switches, local routing, IP assignments) and low-level communication protocols (ESP-NOW, MQTT, Serial/UART, gRPC) dedicated to robot device telemetry.
Troubleshoot protocol conflict issues and signal drops between hardware endpoints and edge servers in the lab using structured root-cause diagnostics.
Actively participate in selecting and setting up lab equipment and tools.
Maintain the designs as a documented, repeatable spec — CAD files, print/production settings, wiring diagrams, and BOM ready to replicate across the 20-unit fleet.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Robotics Integration, Mechatronics, Mechanical Design, Embedded, or Hardware Integration Engineer.
Proficiency in CAD modeling (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, or similar) for functional mechanical parts, sensor mounts, and protective enclosures.
Hands-on 3D printing experience, including designing parts for printability and selecting suitable materials (PETG, ABS/ASA, Nylon/CF).
Practical sensor integration experience: mounting, wiring, harnessing, and verifying data from cameras and advanced sensors.
Solid experience with networking connections (LAN, switches, routing) and integrating hardware components via adapters/converters.
Strong knowledge of how hardware components communicate and how to extract/verify raw data streams from sensors and IP cameras.
Proficiency with microcontrollers (ESP32, STM32) and low-level protocols (ESP-NOW, MQTT, UART).
Structured diagnostic logic and root-cause problem-solving skills for physical-layer setups.
Fluency in both Greek and English to ensure seamless local teamwork and documentation.
High autonomy, a strong builder mindset, and the practical ability to troubleshoot complex physical-layer setups under laboratory conditions.
NICE TO HAVE
Previous experience working directly within a robotics R&D environment or UAV/drone manufacturing (custom drone assembly, frame fabrication, wiring).
Background in Mechanical Engineering with applied electronics knowledge.
Familiarity with NVIDIA container toolkits or how edge devices interface with simulation platforms (NVIDIA Omniverse / Isaac Sim).
Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash) for hardware diagnostic automated routines.
WHAT IS THERE FOR YOU
Compensation: upper-quartile for the Greek market;
On-site work in the Athens office (Marousi);
AI-native environment: real challenges in the AI and Robotics sphere, possibility to work with technologies from top-tier companies (with a unique opportunity to work directly with state-of-the-art electronics, sovereign compute infrastructure, and world-class hardware components from global leaders like NVIDIA);
Growth: Possibility to get training from Robotics companies;
Culture: engineering-first, high autonomy, low bureaucracy — your ideas shape the company's AI direction.
