Senior Software Engineer, Monetization Platform

About The Role

The Monetization Platform team owns the systems behind how Rippling sells, contracts, bills, collects, and recognizes revenue across products and countries.

This is the platform behind the Quote -> Contract -> Entitlement -> Subscription -> Usage -> Bill -> Revenue lifecycle. It supports a $1B+ sales base, manages entitlements, metering, and usage-based billing rules, and enables localized billing for new country launches. The team gives Rippling the foundation to launch new products, pricing models, and markets without rebuilding monetization logic each time.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build the next generation platform. This is an Individual Contributor role for someone who can own broad, ambiguous, multi-team technical charters, influence technical direction without relying on formal authority, and stay close to the code.

You will work on systems where errors are expensive: contracts, entitlement state, subscription state, usage meters, invoices, payments, taxes, revenue data, audit trails, and customer-facing billing experiences. You will define architecture, make hard tradeoffs, mentor technical leaders, and build a platform that lets Rippling monetize new products faster and with more confidence.

What you will do

• System Design: Design scalable, reliable systems that handles contracting, subscription management, invoicing, billing and revenue recognition
• Ownership & Impact: Own projects end-to-end, from design through production - with direct visibility into business outcomes
• Engineering Excellence: Set the bar for code quality, testing practices, and technical documentation within your team
• Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, best practices, and continuous learning within the team
• Collaboration: Partner with Business stakeholders, Product, and Platform teams to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions

What you need to have

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong proficiency in Java, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Proven experience in designing and developing scalable, distributed systems or SaaS platforms.
• Experience with reliability engineering, incident response, performance tuning, observability, and operational excellence.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Excellent ability to communicate complex technical ideas with clarity and precision in written and verbal modes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
