Entry-Level IT & Programmer
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Entry-Level IT & Programmer to join our team. This position combines day-to-day IT support with software development, automation, and internal technology projects.
Programming ability is a key requirement for this position. We are looking for someone who enjoys writing code, solving technical problems, learning new technologies, and finding ways to improve business processes through software and automation. While this is an entry-level position, candidates should already have a solid programming foundation through education, personal projects, internships, freelance work, or previous employment.
The ideal candidate is resourceful, analytical, dependable, and comfortable working on both software and IT problems.
Key Responsibilities
Programming & Software Development
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain internal software applications, scripts, utilities, and automation tools.
- Write clean, organized, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Build software solutions that automate repetitive tasks and improve business processes.
- Work with databases, APIs, files, and other data sources to integrate systems and automate workflows.
- Troubleshoot bugs and identify root causes of software problems.
- Modify and improve existing applications and internal tools.
- Assist with the design and development of new software solutions.
- Research and evaluate technologies that could improve company operations.
- Use version control and follow good software development practices.
- Document applications, scripts, configurations, and technical processes.
IT Support & Systems
- Provide technical support for computers, software, printers, networks, and other technology.
- Set up and configure computers, user accounts, software, and related equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues.
- Assist with administration and maintenance of company IT systems.
- Install, configure, update, and troubleshoot business applications.
- Help maintain reliable, secure, and organized IT infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, equipment, procedures, and configurations.
- Assist with technology-related projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interest and demonstrated ability in computer programming and software development.
- Ability to write functional programs independently and troubleshoot problems in existing code.
- Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++, or similar languages.
- Understanding of fundamental programming concepts, including:
- Variables, data types, and control structures
- Functions and modular programming
- Object-oriented programming
- Data structures
- Error handling and debugging
- Reading and writing files/data
- Basic database concepts
- APIs and system integrations
- Strong computer troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- General understanding of Windows computers, software installation, networking, and common business IT systems.
- Ability and willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently when appropriate.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Personal, academic, internship, or professional programming projects that demonstrate practical development ability.
- Experience with Python and/or C#.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience working with REST APIs and JSON.
- Familiarity with Git or another version-control system.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Windows administration, or Active Directory.
- Basic understanding of networking, cybersecurity, and IT best practices.
- Experience creating scripts or applications that automate real-world tasks.
Security Clearance Requirement
This position is subject to government security requirements. Following a 60-day trial period, continued employment is contingent upon the employee successfully obtaining and maintaining the required government security clearance.
The employee must be willing and able to complete all required applications, background investigations, and other steps associated with the security clearance process.
