Job Title: Mobile Application Engineering Manager

Location: Remote - US Only
Country: United States
Department: Engineering
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $200,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in native iOS application development using Swift, including 3+ years in a formal engineering management or technical lead role directly managing mobile engineers.
  • Exposure to Android development (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, or Android architecture components) is needed, especially for guiding a mixed iOS/Android team or evaluating cross-platform trade-offs.
  • Proven experience leading teams that build mission-critical, offline-first mobile applications.
  • Ability to partner with Product/PM to translate customer requirements into a roadmap, then drive the team to deliver against it.
  • Experience using tools like Instabug/Firebase to triage production issues, guide root-cause investigation, and coach engineers through customer-impacting bugs.
  • Strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM and Clean Architecture — enough to review designs, set technical direction, and unblock the team, even if not writing production code daily.
  • Working knowledge of RESTful API integration, data synchronization, and secure authentication mechanisms, sufficient to guide architectural trade-offs and review technical designs.
  • Working knowledge of WebViews and ability to use it efficiently
  • Strong grounding in debugging, performance optimization, and memory management — enough to mentor engineers through hard problems and make sound trade-off calls.
  • Demonstrated experience leading mobile development initiatives, establishing engineering best practices, hiring, and growing a team — required for this role.
  • Experience with performance management, 1:1s, career development planning, and cross-functional stakeholder communication.
  • Experience with hybrid/cross-platform mobile frameworks — such as Flutter, React Native, or Ionic/Capacitor — is needed and useful for evaluating build-vs-buy and native-vs-hybrid strategy decisions.
