APEX-Lead Solutions Architect
Position Summary
The Lead Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing the systems, applications, and technical solutions that support how BPP configures, quotes, engineers, and manufactures its products. This role serves as the primary technical resource within APEX, translating business objectives and operational requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions.
The Lead Solutions Architect owns the full solution lifecycle, including architecture, development, integration, deployment, documentation, and user adoption. This position combines software development, business process improvement, systems integration, and manufacturing technology expertise to drive operational excellence and innovation across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Application Development
• Architect, develop, and maintain applications supporting product configuration, quoting, engineering, manufacturing, and business operations.
• Design and implement systems containing complex product, pricing, validation, and manufacturing logic.
• Lead software initiatives from concept and proof of concept through deployment, support, and business adoption.
• Establish governed engineering, product, catalog, and pricing data structures and processes.
• Translate engineering standards and manufacturing requirements into system-driven workflows and controls.
• Develop automated document generation solutions for customer, engineering, and production deliverables.
Process Definition & Business Improvement
• Analyze, map, and redesign business processes across estimating, quoting, engineering, and manufacturing operations.
• Identify manual processes, undocumented workflows, and operational bottlenecks, then develop scalable solutions to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Define data structures, measurements, and reporting requirements necessary to support operational decision-making.
• Pilot and implement process improvements that deliver measurable business results.
Solution Architecture & Systems Integration
• Design integrations between business applications, ERP systems, engineering platforms, CAD tools, document management systems, and other enterprise technologies.
• Define data models, interface requirements, and integration standards to ensure reliable information flow across the organization.
• Establish technical standards, development practices, security controls, documentation requirements, and source control procedures.
• Support long-term technology planning and architecture decisions across the business.
Advanced Manufacturing Technology
• Evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies and digital solutions for applicability within BPP operations.
• Lead research, pilot programs, implementation planning, and adoption efforts for automation, machine connectivity, digital work instructions, and manufacturing technology initiatives.
• Develop business cases and recommendations for technology investments supporting operational growth and efficiency.
Technical Leadership
• Serve as the technical leader within APEX, providing architectural guidance and technical direction for strategic initiatives.
• Prioritize and execute initiatives aligned with business goals and operational requirements.
• Evaluate build-versus-buy decisions and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Manage external development partners, technology vendors, consultants, and implementation resources.
• Communicate technical recommendations, project status, risks, and business impacts to leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Seven (7) or more years of experience designing and delivering technical solutions within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience leading software, process improvement, or digital transformation initiatives from concept through production deployment.
• Hands-on experience with software development, web applications, SQL, relational databases, API development, and systems integration.
• Experience designing business systems with complex workflows, conditional logic, and process automation requirements.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, engineering processes, bills of material, routings, and production execution.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex or ambiguous business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Strong project management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience within electrical equipment, switchgear, industrial manufacturing, or engineer-to-order environments.
• Familiarity with electrical industry standards, including UL 891 and UL 1558.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Dataverse, Power Platform, or related Microsoft technologies.
• Experience integrating CAD, PLM, engineering, or product configuration systems.
• Experience developing estimating, pricing, margin modeling, or quoting solutions.
• Knowledge of industrial automation, machine data collection, Industry 4.0 technologies, or connected manufacturing environments.
• Experience evaluating and implementing emerging business and manufacturing technologies.
