Staff Data Scientist
Mentimeter is an engagement tool with a clear goal in mind. To turn presentations into conversations. Through real-time interactivity and clear visualizations, we get people to participate, engage and become more productive. Transforming all those passive meetings, airless classrooms and drawn out trainings into valuable and memorable moments.
We truly believe that you achieve the best results by doing things together. And that successful leaders need to adopt a curious and collaborative mindset in order to get there. So with you at Mentimeter, you’ll be a big part of the ambition to help over 1 billion people listen, learn and work better together.
The Role
Are you ready to shape how Data Science influences company direction — not just individual team outcomes? Join Mentimeter as a Staff Data Scientist, a role that exists to help us identify, understand and act on the high-value opportunities where Data Science can shape where the company goes next.
The Catalyst department is on a mission to realise our company strategy and drive innovation, growth and impact across Mentimeter using data, automation and generative AI. In this role you'll turn ambiguous technical, behavioural, product, market and business signals into clear strategic opportunities, decisions and scalable analytical capabilities.
You'll operate confidently where the problem, ownership, approach or strategic implications are not yet clear, creating direction that enables Mentimeter to move from uncertainty to commitment and action. Working across Product Analytics and Revenue Analytics, your work won't just influence team and functional outcomes — it will help leaders make company-level decisions and raise the ambition of the entire Data Science craft.
Success looks like measurable company-level business impact, stronger strategic decision-making, and increased leverage from Data Science across Mentimeter. The strongest work here goes beyond delivering an analysis, model or framework — it changes what Mentimeter understands, prioritizes and decides to do.
What you’ll do
- Identify and frame company-level opportunities where Data Science can create strategic leverage, and connect them to company strategy, growth, revenue, product outcomes and competitive advantage.
- Lead complicated and complex Data Science initiatives that span functions or departments — from opportunity discovery and problem framing through to delivery, adoption and impact measurement.
- Design, build and productionise statistical, predictive and algorithmic solutions — ML models, recommendation logic, customer and account scoring, segmentation, forecasting, experimentation and causal inference.
- Help leaders make well-informed strategic decisions and trade-offs, making important trade-offs visible and helping Mentimeter commit to opportunities that may cut across departments or materially influence company strategy.
- Define and raise the standard for how Data Science contributes to Mentimeter's strategy — best practices for modelling, code quality, deployment, monitoring, documentation, automation and responsible use of AI.
- Build reusable models, methods and frameworks that increase the leverage of the craft, and mentor data scientists and cross-functional partners to raise the quality and impact of Data Science across the function.
- Communicate complex analyses as clear narratives, trade-offs and recommendations that influence decisions across every level of the organisation.
We believe you have
- A minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience in data science, analytics, machine learning or a closely related field, including a track record of leading initiatives end-to-end.
- Problem formulation and strategic direction-setting — framing company-level opportunities where the problem, ownership or approach is not yet clear.
- Strong business acumen — business sense, domain expertise and the ability to connect the dots between Data Science opportunities and strategic objectives across sales, product, revenue and growth.
- Deep expertise in machine learning, statistics and causal inference, with strong proficiency in Python and SQL and solid software/ML engineering practices (git, code review, testing, versioning, monitoring, production-grade code).
- Experimentation, measurement and decision science — building forecasting, measurement and analytical frameworks that improve decision quality.
- AI/LLM building and emerging-technology judgement — evaluating new technologies (e.g. tools such as Cursor or Claude) and translating promising developments into concrete opportunities for Mentimeter.
- Exceptional storytelling, communication and stakeholder management — turning complex, ambiguous information into clear narratives that influence senior stakeholders and company leaders.
- Company-level influence and craft leadership — creating alignment across functions, mentoring others, and establishing reusable approaches and standards that outlast any single project.
- An understanding of GDPR-sensitive data and data processing, with the judgement to know when to collaborate with legal experts on compliance assessments.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with modern data tools such as Snowflake, Hex, dbt or similar.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
- Experience in a SaaS environment — especially enterprise go-to-market, revenue, customer lifecycle, product usage or retention data.
- A history of influencing company-level priorities through data science, analytics or strategic insight work.

At Mentimeter, we believe AI helps us work smarter - but it never replaces the human assessment, curiosity, and personal connection that define our culture and our hiring. We use AI as a sparring partner: to bounce ideas, bring new perspectives, support structure, and make our work more efficient. But the meaning, decisions, and interactions always come from people.
- AI does not screen or decide on candidates.
- There is no automated filtering, ranking, or decision-making in our recruitment process. Every application is reviewed by a person.
- Hiring teams may use AI to support their work - for example, to structure notes, prepare interview questions, or organize their thinking.
