DevOps Engineer- Platform
About IP Fabric
Join a pioneering force in network automation!
At IP Fabric, we enable people to uncover the truth about their networks. Built by network professionals and industry experts, our innovative solutions are transforming how enterprises manage their networks. As a post-Series B company, we're expanding rapidly across Europe, the U.S., and beyond.
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer – Platform to join our Platform team and help evolve the foundations of the IP Fabric product.
Our Platform team is focused on making the product more stable, elegant to develop, performant, and secure.
The work sits at the intersection of software engineering, Linux, CI/CD, containers, quality, and developer experience.
Over the coming months, some of our biggest challenges include decomposing parts of our monolithic application into cleaner modules or services, modernizing deployment from a Debian package-based model toward containers, improving build and testing pipelines, and creating a much better local-development experience.
This is not a traditional infrastructure-operations DevOps position.
You will work directly on the product platform and the engineering systems surrounding it.
We are hiring at either L2 or L3.
Both levels are hands-on. The difference is primarily the scope you can own independently.
What You'll Do
- Build and improve product-platform components and tooling using Python and TypeScript
- Help evolve the application from a monolithic structure toward cleaner modules and/or services
- Contribute to the design and implementation of our next-generation deployment model
- Help move the product from Debian package-oriented deployment toward an appropriate container-based approach
- Build, improve, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines
- Improve build and testing infrastructure
- Make local product development easier and more reliable
- Work with Kubernetes and containerized workloads
- Troubleshoot issues across application, runtime, container, Linux, and CI/CD boundaries
- Improve platform stability, performance, maintainability, and developer experience
- Participate in technical discussions and code reviews
- Collaborate closely with engineers across the product organization
- Apply good engineering practices around testing, observability, maintainability, and software quality
- Contribute to software hardening and secure engineering practices where appropriate
L2 / L3 Expectations
L2
At L2, you should be able to independently deliver a defined technical task end to end.
Once the task and expected outcome are clear, you can determine the implementation, investigate unknowns, write and test the solution, troubleshoot issues, and drive the change through completion without close technical supervision.
L3
At L3, you should additionally be comfortable working from a broader technical goal.
Once familiar with the platform, you can identify what needs to change, break broader goals into concrete work, propose solutions, explain tradeoffs, and lead implementation.
You are also expected to contribute meaningfully to technical decisions led by other engineers.
What You'll Need
- Strong GNU/Linux fundamentals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on experience with containers
- Practical Kubernetes knowledge, or very strong relevant fundamentals and the ability to become productive quickly
- Experience building, maintaining, or improving CI/CD pipelines
- Software-development experience in Python and/or TypeScript
- Ability to independently own technical implementation
- Understanding of modern software-engineering practices, including testing and version control
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote engineering team
- EU citizenship or other eligibility to work in the EU
Bonus Points
- Experience with both Python and TypeScript
- Understanding of the Node.js runtime and ecosystem
- Experience modernizing application deployment
- Experience migrating workloads toward containers
- Experience decomposing monolithic applications
- Experience with developer tooling or Developer Experience / DevEx
- Experience improving local-development environments
- Experience with build systems and testing infrastructure
- Software-hardening or application/platform security experience
- Experience improving performance or reliability of product platforms
