Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer
- Manage, maintain, and optimise the firm’s Nutanix HCI environment, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
- Administer and support Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops infrastructure, including provisioning, user experience optimisation, and troubleshooting.
- Support and maintain the firm’s Microsoft stack, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365, and Azure services.
- Manage core networking infrastructure including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems.
- Provide advanced (3rd-line) technical support and act as an escalation point for the IT Service Desk and Infrastructure teams.
- Ensure system monitoring, alerting, and performance reporting are in place and effective.
- Lead and deliver infrastructure projects from design to implementation, ensuring minimal disruption to the business.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of technology refreshes, upgrades, and migrations.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance performance, security, and resilience.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and operating procedures.
- Maintain robust backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions, ensuring regular testing and documentation.
- Work to ensure systems comply with ISO 27001 and firm-wide information security policies.
- Manage patching, firmware updates, and configuration management to maintain security and stability.
- Participate in regular system and security audits.
- Work closely with the IT Infrastructure, IT Service Desk and Systems Development teams to ensure cohesive service delivery.
- Mentor infrastructure engineers and provide technical guidance to the wider IT team.
- Contribute to capacity planning, budgeting, and procurement discussions.
- Significant experience in a senior infrastructure engineering or 3rd-line role, ideally within a professional services or legal environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV and Prism management.
- Expertise in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (or similar VDI environments).
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365, and Azure.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including VLANs, routing, switching, and firewalls.
- Proven experience supporting high-availability environments with strong uptime requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Experience with ITIL-based support practices and change management processes.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Exposure to or certification in Nutanix (NCP/NCM), Citrix (CCA/CCP), or Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE/Azure).
- Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g. PowerShell).
- Knowledge of backup and recovery platforms (e.g. Veeam, Rubrik).
- Familiarity with endpoint management tools (e.g. Intune, SCCM).
- Experience with enterprise security solutions and best practices.
