Principal Software Architect

As Principal Software Architect, you will define and drive the future technology architecture for Hii Retail, a cloud-native SaaS platform for leading retailers, ensuring it scales with resilience, efficiency, and technical excellence. You will own the end-to-end technical architecture and act as the bridge between strategic vision and engineering execution, aligning long-term direction with day-to-day delivery.

As a senior member of the Product Engineering leadership team, you will partner with Engineering, Product, Site Reliability Engineering, and Developer Enablement to align architecture with business goals.

You will lead the Solution Review Board, ensuring new systems and architectural changes meet standards for scalability, quality, and long-term sustainability, while also setting the strategic direction for AI across product capabilities and engineering efficiency.

You are an experienced architect with a strong enterprise and engineering background from high-growth, product-led organizations, with a deep understanding of how business and technology architecture interlink. You have a proven ability to design scalable, modern platforms and bring a delivery mindset to your work.

You are comfortable operating in fast-paced environments and demonstrate the ability to take initiative, identify problems, and drive solutions with a holistic perspective. You communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders and are confident in explaining complex architectural topics in a clear and structured way. You lead through expertise and influence, building trust and alignment across teams without relying on formal authority.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a senior, principal, or chief architect in a SaaS or technology-led company.

• Strong expertise in distributed systems and cloud native architectures, GCP preferred.

• Solid understanding of MACH principles, Microservices, API first, Cloud native, Headless.

• Experience with DevOps, platform engineering, and developer enablement.

• Experience working with AI, including Agentic AI, and modern development practices.

• Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex topics to both technical and business stakeholders.
