Senior Python developer with Flowable

You will join a globally distributed team in the Wealth Management area of a leading global bank, working in the AI Factory stream. The stream turns AI use cases into production-grade solutions that automate and improve business processes across the organisation. The team combines workflow orchestration on the Flowable platform with Python-based AI and data services. This lets processes such as client servicing, document handling, approvals and operational workflows be partly or fully automated, with human-in-the-loop control where needed. Everything runs in a highly regulated environment, so reliability, auditability, security and compliance are key. We are looking for a senior Python & Flowable Engineer who wants to bring AI capabilities into real business processes and help shape the technical direction of the stream.

Responsibilities

• Design and build process automation solutions that combine Flowable workflows with Python-based AI and data services Model processes, cases and decisions using BPMN 2.0, CMMN and DMN, including human-in-the-loop review steps Develop Python services and APIs (e.g. FastAPI/Flask) that Flowable processes call, including integration with AI/ML and LLM services Integrate workflows with internal and external systems through REST APIs and messaging Turn business use cases into technical designs together with business analysts, data scientists and stakeholders Make sure AI-enabled processes are traceable, auditable and compliant with the bank's security and risk requirements Write unit and integration tests, take part in code reviews and promote engineering best practices Support deployment and operation of solutions across environments (DEV/UAT/PROD) using CI/CD Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause resolution Act as a technical expert in the team, guide less experienced engineers and contribute to solution architecture decisions

SKILLS

Must have

• 10+ years of software development experience, with strong recent hands-on Python experience 3+ years of hands-on experience with Flowable (or Activiti / Camunda) Strong knowledge of BPMN 2.0; practical experience with CMMN and DMN Proven experience designing and building REST APIs and service integrations (FastAPI, Flask or similar) Experience integrating AI/ML or LLM-based services into business applications Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar) and Docker Working knowledge of Java / Spring Boot, enough to extend and integrate with the Flowable platform Track record of working in a globally distributed Agile team in a senior or lead capacity Good spoken and written English

Nice to have

Experience with LLM frameworks and patterns (e.g. LangChain, RAG, prompt engineering) Experience with Flowable Work / Flowable Design, including Flowable AI features Containerisation and deployment on Kubernetes Cloud experience, ideally Microsoft Azure (including Azure OpenAI) Messaging and event-driven integration (Kafka, JMS/MQ) Experience in banking or wealth management, ideally with process automation or AI use cases
