We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join our Merchandise Technology Domain SRE team. This application-focused SRE role keeps business-critical systems healthy by applying engineering practices to production operations, ensuring problems are diagnosed at the source rather than passed along. The engineer will leverage cloud technologies in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and participate in an on-call rotation for the applications in scope.

Responsibilities

  • Provide production support for business-critical applications, including incident triage, on-call rotation, escalation, and root cause analysis
  • Navigate unfamiliar codebases and trace failures through Java/Spring Boot services to the responsible class, query, or configuration value
  • Perform log and trace-driven triage using APM, distributed tracing, logs, NRQL, alerting, dashboards, and synthetics
  • Execute database triage by writing queries for data extraction, correction, or replay across relational and NoSQL databases
  • Manage the incident lifecycle, including assignment group routing, priority/SLA handling, re-drives, and change records
  • Support and mitigate incidents in cloud-native environments running on AWS and Kubernetes
  • Handle Kafka operations such as consumer lag, partitions/offsets, replay/reprocessing, and dead letter handling
  • Resolve small operational defects and bugs through CI/CD with tests, and know when to hand off to feature-owning teams
  • Apply strong analytical judgment on mitigation versus continued diagnosis during live incidents
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly in writing throughout incident response

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or production support of business-critical applications
  • Background in incident triage, on-call rotation, escalation, and root cause analysis
  • Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, with the ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases and trace failures to their source
  • Expertise in log/trace-driven triage using APM, distributed tracing, NRQL, alerting, dashboards, and synthetics, along with PagerDuty routing
  • Skills in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (DynamoDB), including writing queries for data extraction, correction, or replay
  • Knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes for supporting and mitigating incidents in cloud-native environments
  • Competency in Apache Kafka operations, including consumer lag, partitions/offsets, replay/reprocessing, and dead letter handling
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines to resolve small operational defects and bugs through tested code changes
  • Capability to apply strong analytical and problem-solving judgment during live incidents
  • Understanding of Anthropic Claude for engineering workflows
  • Excellent written communication skills (B2+ level)

Nice to have

  • Experience with New Relic across APM, distributed tracing, logs, NRQL, alerting, dashboards, and synthetics
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow incident lifecycle management, including assignment group routing, priority/SLA handling, re-drives, and change records
