Lead Java Engineer (Full Stack)

We are hiring Lead Java Developers (Full Stack) in Malaysia to drive a team building backend services in Java or Kotlin with Spring Boot, and frontends in Angular or React. Java is our core language. You will steer solutions from the database to the user interface, operate them in production on Azure or AWS, and develop the engineers around you.

Responsibilities

• Lead a full stack team delivering backend and frontend features in Scrum or Kanban
• Architect scalable, secure Java or Kotlin microservices with Spring Boot
• Guide end-to-end solutions from database to UI and integration between frontend interfaces and backend services/APIs
• Design event-driven systems on Apache Kafka or similar messaging
• Deploy and operate services on Azure or AWS with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and CI/CD
• Monitor applications and resolve production incidents using Datadog or equivalent
• Partner with product managers and designers on technical roadmaps
• Raise quality and secure coding practices through coaching engineers and code reviews

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in Spring Boot backend development and modern frontend frameworks (Angular or React)
• Track record in JavaScript/TypeScript, microservices, REST API and event-driven design
• Hands-on experience in cloud platforms (Azure or AWS preferred), using Docker, Kubernetes and Helm with CI/CD pipelines and production deployments
• Experience monitoring application health, troubleshooting incidents and tracing root causes in Datadog or a similar platform
• Working knowledge of Apache Kafka or other messaging solutions, including event-driven design and reliable message delivery
• Ability to design and guide end-to-end solutions from database to UI
• Experience working with Postgres, MongoDB
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and Agile delivery
• Right to work in Malaysia (visa sponsorship is not available)

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Kotlin and its usage in backend development.
• Experience guiding UI/UX quality decisions or working closely with design teams to align UI with technical feasibility
• Prior involvement in technical leadership or coaching developers across backend and frontend domains
