Cloud Security Lead Engineer
Klarna, briefly
At Klarna, we’re building an everyday finance network, helping over 120 million consumers across 26 countries save time and money, and worry less about their finances. Working here means taking on problems most companies never get to solve, and being hands-on enough that the interesting part of the work lands with you, not someone else — you’ll build with AI, not watch it happen.
This is the stretch zone. Come find out what you’re capable of.
About the role
Every cloud asset at Klarna needs a known owner, known relationships to other assets, and a known security and compliance status. The Cloud Inventory team, part of the Securing Klarna group, builds the Asset Inventory that holds this information as the source of truth for Klarna’s cloud assets.
This position leads engineering on the Asset Inventory and extends our Cloud Security Posture Management capabilities. You’ll learn Klarna’s security and compliance rules in depth and build the tooling that helps teams find, understand, and fix security gaps.
What you’ll do
You’ll design, build, and run full-stack services that collect and serve cloud asset data, including ownership, dependencies, and risk.
You’ll turn security and compliance requirements into product features that engineers can use without reading the underlying rules.
You’ll build prioritization and remediation workflows, and measure their effect on Klarna’s security posture.
You’ll develop working expertise in security and compliance rules, and guide how they are implemented across systems and teams.
You’ll work with engineering, security, compliance, and platform teams to agree on priorities and delivery.
You’ll explain technical risks, priorities, and progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Who you are
You’ve built and owned production software, and you can describe the systems you delivered and ran.
You know AWS well enough to review microservice architectures for security vulnerabilities.
You’ve worked with cloud infrastructure, asset inventories, or resource dependency mapping.
You take a security-first approach: you measure risk, rank it, and explain it clearly.
You’ve built scalable full-stack web applications.
You’ve delivered work with stakeholders from several functions, such as engineering, security, or compliance.
You’ve used TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, React, PostgreSQL, and Terraform, or you can get up to speed quickly.
Bonus points for
Experience using commercial cybersecurity and asset management platforms to evaluate security posture.
Experience running security and compliance audits, collecting evidence, and producing reports.
Things you should know before applying
This position is based in Klarna’s Milan office; most teams currently meet in person 2–3 days per week, and this varies by team and can change over time.
Non-obvious backgrounds are welcome. Diversity of skills, perspectives, and backgrounds is how we create, innovate, and disrupt like no other.
Final compensation will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
Please include a CV in English. Concrete beats comprehensive — what you built, what it did, what it cost. Curious to learn more about Klarna and what it’s like to work here? Explore our career site!
