About Netwealth

Netwealth isn't just a company. We're shaping the future of wealth in Australia. Our award-winning platform and NextGen technology empower advisers and investors to achieve more, and we're proud to be recognised as one of Australia's most innovative FinTech businesses.

Since 1999, we've grown rapidly by challenging the status quo. We move fast, think big, and stay agile. Free from unnecessary bureaucracy so we can deliver smarter solutions for our clients and create real impact.

But what truly sets us apart? Our people. We're a team of curious, optimistic and courageous individuals who collaborate to make life better for more Australians. We value authenticity, and agility, and we believe in creating an environment where you can do your best work, grow your career, and feel part of something meaningful.

If you're looking for a place where your ideas matter, where innovation is celebrated, and where you can help shape a brighter financial future, join us at Netwealth.

You’ll lead an inclusive engineering squad and own the end-to-end outcomes of the services it delivers and operates. Working across Product, Risk, Compliance, Operations and Cyber Security, you’ll create clarity around priorities, ownership, dependencies and material trade-offs while balancing customer experience, fraud risk, security, reliability, quality and sustainable delivery.

What you’ll own

  • Establish and evolve the fraud engineering strategy, roadmap, capability and decision framework.

  • Lead, coach and grow an inclusive, high-performing engineering team.

  • Own the delivery and operation of fraud-prevention, detection, investigation and response capabilities.

  • Embed quality, security, privacy, resilience and observability throughout the engineering lifecycle.

  • Create clear and timely decision-making across technical, product, risk and operational teams.

  • Set sustainable technical direction and use data, engineering and AI-assisted practices to improve delivery and fraud outcomes.

  • Use balanced measures across customer protection, fraud risk, delivery, reliability, quality, people and financial outcomes to guide priorities and investment.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience leading software engineering teams and growing people, capability and autonomy.

  • A record of delivering and operating secure, reliable and scalable products, platforms or services.

  • Experience establishing clear service ownership, engineering standards and operational accountability.

  • Strong understanding of contemporary engineering practices, including automated testing, observability, security, resilience and continuous delivery.

  • Sound judgement when balancing customer experience, risk, speed, reliability and cost.

  • The ability to establish direction and create clarity in complex or ambiguous environments.

  • Experience leading across technical and non-technical disciplines and communicating material technology, risk and control considerations to senior stakeholders.

  • A willingness to identify and escalate material risks early, supported by clear evidence and practical options.

  • A thoughtful approach to AI-assisted engineering or analytics, including security, privacy, explainability and accountable human oversight.

Expertise in fraud prevention, scams, transaction monitoring, financial crime or a related customer-protection domain would be valuable. We’re also interested in candidates from adjacent areas such as cyber security, trust and safety, risk technology, behavioural analytics or operational resilience.

Experience in financial services, wealth management or another regulated environment, or in establishing a new engineering team, platform or capability, would also transfer well to this role.

At the broader scope of this role, you may also influence enterprise fraud technology direction, investment and operating-model decisions.

We recognise that strong candidates may not meet every preferred requirement. If you have relevant or adjacent experience and are motivated to protect customers, build trusted technology and establish a new engineering capability, we encourage you to apply.
