Systems Engineer – Infrastructure & Fleet
mimic is a deep tech robotics & AI start-up based in Zurich and supported by leading VCs. We give industry workers a helping hand for tedious manual labour tasks and mitigate labour shortages with a versatile automation platform. Our automation solutions, driven by dexterous robotic hands and cutting edge AI trained on human observations, bring a new level of AI embodiment to the real world.
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Systems Engineer to drive the technical evolution of our robotics and AI stack into a scalable, highly reliable, and production-grade platform.
In this role, you will sit at the center of cloud, AI and robotics fleet software integration at our Zurich headquarters. You will own the core system architecture, policy execution harnesses, and fleet infrastructure required to take our robots from cutting edge research platforms to rock-solid, autonomous operations in real-world environments.
What You’ll Do
- Build the future of fleet management for end-to-end learnt manipulation: Design and implement fleet management capabilities, including remote software/model deployment, A/B and Blue/Green testing, centralized telemetry/monitoring, and predictive maintenance.
- Architect petabyte-scale robotics infra: Guide scalable system architecture decisions across edge computing, AI runtimes, and local infrastructure.
- Maintain and enforce high standards for reliability across the stack: Establish and enforce rigorous testing, CI/CD, DevOps standards, and system-level software certification across the platform.
- Build the nervous system of mimic’s physical AI In close collaboration with our AI research, AI infrastructure, robotics and hardware teams, define the interfaces that bind them together, and make sure that our frontier research output is wrapped by cutting-edge infrastructure.
Must Haves
- Real-World Systems Experience: Proven track record of shipping and maintaining complex, fault-tolerant, production-grade systems in real-world settings (e.g., robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, aerospace, or edge ML devices). Specific experience with robotics is not required.
- Deep Systems & Low-Level Engineering: Strong systems-level engineering foundation with hands-on expertise in cloud performance optimization, and hardware/software integration.
- Edge & Platform Reliability: Experience building execution wrappers, safety monitors, or telemetry/remote-operation tools for edge systems.
- Technical Depth: Capable of diving deep into code, diagnosing edge-case failures, and making high-impact architectural decisions independently.
- On-Site Presence: Based in or willing to relocate to Zurich. Being in-person is essential, as this role sits at the intersection of our physical hardware, AI models, and software integration.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Cloud/large scale data for learning purposes
- Familiarity with safety-critical architectures or formal system certification environments.
- Experience scaling deep-tech software platforms from early-stage prototypes to fleet-wide deployments.
You will have the opportunity to shape a robotics & AI company from the ground up. In flat hierarchies you will work directly with the founders and some of the best talents in the robotics space. At mimic, you are accepted for who you are. As part of our ongoing journey towards creating a diverse and inclusive environment we encourage everyone to apply and we are looking forward to you bringing along your knowledge, personal experiences, and fresh perspectives. Together we can solve some of the greatest challenges in robotics.
