We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our cross-functional and global Manufacturing Software Development organization. In this role, you will research, develop, validate, and deploy machine learning solutions for complex manufacturing systems and CAD/CAM applications that support the production of millions of custom medical devices.

You will work at the intersection of computer vision, 3D geometry, multimodal AI, and advanced manufacturing, applying modern machine learning techniques to improve manufacturing operations. This position offers the opportunity to transform cutting-edge research into production systems that directly impact patient outcomes and manufacturing efficiency. Align leverages AI, machine learning, digital imaging, and visualization technologies as core components of its digital ecosystem.
Role Expectations
In this role, you will:
  • Research, evaluate, and apply state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to improve medical device manufacturing processes.
  • Design, develop, and optimize deep learning models for diverse data modalities, including 3D meshes and geometric data ,images and computer vision datasets, structured and tabular data
  • Develop multimodal AI solutions that combine information from multiple data sources.
  • Perform model validation, performance analysis, error investigation, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, manufacturing specialists, and product teams to Integrate models into 3D CAD/CAM systems.
  • Establish and maintain robust ML development and experimentation workflows.
  • Document technical approaches, validation results, and implementation recommendations.
  • Drive ownership of assigned machine learning components throughout their lifecycle, including maintenance, monitoring, and enhancement.
  • Stay current with emerging research and evaluate the applicability of new scientific advances to real-world manufacturing and orthodontic workflows.

What We're Looking For:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • 4-6 years of industry experience developing and deploying machine learning solutions in commercial environments.
  • Strong experience building deep learning applications, preferably in computer vision or geometric processing domains.
  • Good understanding of modern machine learning techniques, including semantic and instance segmentation, object detection and classification, transformer architectures, vision transformers
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch or equivalent deep learning frameworks.
  • Strong mathematical foundation including linear algebra, optimization methods, probability and statistics, bayesian methods, analytical geometry
  • Ability to analyze scientific literature and translate research findings into practical solutions.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • English level B2 or higher.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with integrating ML model to C++ applications
  • Hands on experience with 3D CAD/CAM systems
  • Experience with 3D machine learning applications:
  • Experience deploying ML solutions in cloud-based environments.
  • Experience with MLOps technologies and workflows.
  • Scientific publications, patents, or contributions to open-source projects.
  • Knowledge of SQL and large-scale data processing.
  • Experience working within regulated environments such as medical devices, healthcare, manufacturing, or quality systems.
